Health department confirms hepatitis A case linked to Pine Knob

The agency is asking everyone who ate at the Ivy Lounge between August 26 and September 8 to keep an eye out for symptoms and get vaccinated for hepatitis A as soon as feasible.

“The window for vaccination to help prevent illness from hepatitis A is through tomorrow for those individuals who attended the Jason Aldean concert and ate at the Ivy Lounge,” said Dr. Russell Faust, Oakland County’s medical director. “We encourage anyone who has not been vaccinated against hepatitis A to get vaccinated to protect against future exposures.”

Anyone who attended the Jason Aldean concert on September 8 is encouraged to be vaccinated by Saturday, September 23.

Anyone who attended the following performances should keep an eye out for hepatitis A symptoms:

Lynyrd Skynyrd gig on August 26

Arctic Monkeys gig on August 29th

Foreigner concert on 30th of August

Disturbed performance on September 1st

Beck and Phoenix gig on September 2nd

Pentatonix performs on September 3rd.

Rob Zombie performance on September 5th

Smashing Pumpkins gig on September 6th

All persons who may have been exposed should be on the lookout for hepatitis A symptoms and should call their healthcare practitioner if they become unwell to report a known hepatitis A exposure.

Hepatitis A is a virus-infected liver ailment. The virus is secreted in feces and is often passed from person to person via contaminated hands.

Symptoms include severe stomach discomfort, lethargy, diarrhea, nausea, headache, dark urine, and vomiting, followed by skin and eye yellowing.

Symptoms might emerge two to six weeks following exposure, with an average of one month.
