This week, there were 18,026 dengue cases reported, with 96 deaths, compared to 15,791 cases and 86 deaths the prior week. This takes the total number of recorded cases and fatalities since January 2023 to 148,328 and 730, respectively.
Following a peak in week 32 (with the majority of cases coming from Dhaka city) and subsequent fall, incidences have increased again in the previous two weeks (35 and 36), primarily from other regions of the nation.
Weekly cases increased in all divisions except the Rangpur division at the division level. The divisions of Barishal, Khulna, Mymensingh, and Rajshahi have had the greatest rise in the number of cases (more than 20%).
Weekly fatalities in Dhaka have ranged between 47 and 60 in the previous eight weeks, whereas mortality outside Dhaka have increasingly increased, with 39 deaths in the reporting week.
WHO and its partners are still assisting the government in its response to the incident.
